About the Business Development Europe & Africa Team

The Business Development Europe & Africa (EA) team is part of our Business Development (BD) department, which is accountable for overall sales achievements worldwide and leads business development and client relationship management. The Business Development EA team consists of four Business Developers located in the Netherlands, UK, and Germany. They closely collaborate with regional BD teams, Operations, Innovations, and Staff departments. The BD teams are currently in a transitional phase of refining their culture to further strengthen the expansion of market presence and revenue, driven by strategic customer development and strong teamwork.

Your role as Area Manager Business Development Europe & Africa (EA)

As Area Manager Business Development EA, you’ll lead a team of four Business Developers across Europe & Africa, supporting their growth in both commercial and technical areas, from generating leads and managing contracts, to CRM usage and strategic thinking. You’ll play a hands-on role in developing new business, shaping the regional BD strategy and translating this into measurable actions for the team, while ensuring strong collaboration with departments like Operations, Innovations, and Finance. By coaching your team, you’ll drive revenue growth, expand the opportunity pipeline, and attract new customers. The Area Manager BD EA will be reporting to the Business Development Director.

Regular activities

  • Lead and coach the Business Development team across Europe & Africa, focusing on commercial growth and personal development.

  • Drive new business opportunities and contribute directly to revenue and pipeline expansion.

  • Develop and implement the Business Development strategy within your region, and translating it into clear, actionable steps to enable your team to be successful.

  • Facilitate strong collaboration across our regional Business Development teams and departments such as Operations, Finance and Legal to streamline collaboration and enhance effectiveness.

  • Monitor key performance indicators including revenue growth, opportunity pipeline, new customer acquisition, and team development, by using tools like CRM and applying a data-driven approach.

We ask

  • BSc/MSc degree in Technical/Business Administration studies, or similar, combined with solid experience in a relevant industry (Offshore, Maritime, Oil & Gas, Wind etc).

  • 10 + years of professional experience, including 5+ years in leading teams within commercial, technical, or project management roles.

  • Proven track record in business development, customer relationship management, contracting, CRM, and negotiating complex commercial deals.

  • Experience with coaching, developing and motivating teams.

  • Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus. You bring a proactive, curious mindset and thrive in a collaborative, energetic environment.

  • Willingness to travel across regions.
