Your role as Gangway Operator Mechanic
After completing an on- & off-shore training program you will become a qualified Gangway Operator Mechanic, working on the Ampelmann L-type gangway system. As an operator, you are responsible for a safe operation of the Ampelmann gangway. Your main job is to take care of safe people transfers and making sure the gangway stays in perfect shape for the next operator. You will typically work on a 4‑ to 6‑week offshore / 4‑ to 6‑week home rotation. Occasionally, you may be asked to provide cover for a colleague offshore, which will adjust your rotation.
At Ampelmann, you join an international company where growth is encouraged and supported. You will be part of the operator team in Brunei, receive mentorship from experienced operators, and report directly to the Crewing Coordinator.
Regular activities
Operating the Ampelmann system, while keeping safety as the main priority .
Perform maintenance inspections of the gangway and report daily, weekly, and monthly outcomes.
Operational trouble shooting according to procedures .
Responsible for finding new landing locations when needed .
Able to instruct & support the bosun, able seaman and bridge to ensure a safe operation .
Administrative processing of the operation and your own certificates .
We ask
More than 2 years of offshore experience and technical affinity, with knowledge on Electronics, Hydraulics and/or Mechanics
Good English communication skills (verbal and written)
You are a proactive, hands‑on professional with a strong sense of responsibility, able to work effectively both independently and within a team
You are in possession of valid Basic offshore certificates: Medical, BOSIET, HUET, CA-EBS (preferred MIST, Seaman’s book), BSP E-Kawal Card, BSP H2S Awareness, TSBB (OPITO Code 5605)
You are located in Brunei and you have a Bruneian passport (or you are able to request a passport in a short time)
