About the OCC department   

The Operations Control Centre (OCC) is part of our Operations department. This department is responsible for making sure our global operations run safely and efficiently. The OCC team ensures that all operations in the area are conducted safely and in full satisfaction of our clients by providing 24/7 support. The OCC team consist of two sub teams: Emergency support (First line support team) and the Field Control Engineering team. In this role, you will be part of the first line support sub-team, working together with 5 Operations Support Engineers based in The Netherlands, 3 in Brunei and 1 in the USA. You will report to one of the two Senior Team Leads. 

 

Your role as Jr. Operations Support Engineer 

As Jr. Operations Support Engineer it is your responsibility to support our operations offshore by preventing and reducing downtime of our fleet of motion compensated gangway systems to a minimum. You do this by working in shift rotations which take place 24/7 (day, evening, night and/or weekends) to ensure that we can provide our services every minute of every day to our clients. During these shifts, you will be first point of contact for our colleagues and clients in case of emergencies. You will take the lead over all decision making and solve the situation in a safe manner.   

In case one of our systems is not operational, you will remotely solve any issue that occurs. Before solving issues by yourself, you will be trained extensively by your Operations Support colleagues. You will also be modifying existing software packages and deploying upgrades on our Ampelmann systems worldwide, both on- and (sometimes) offshore.  

 

Regular activities 

  • Supervising troubleshoots by instructing offshore personnel, monitoring the work safety and  informing internal and external clients about downtime status.  

  • Minimising downtime by identifying challenges and formulating possible solutions.  

  • Liaising with other departments to successfully solve operational and technical challenges.  

  • Conducting project meetings and preparing regular reports to communicate project status to your  Stakeholders.  

  • Providing support in maintaining and upgrading our systems and software (onshore and  at times offshore).  

  • Continuously training/keeping yourself updated regarding the Ampelmann technology.  

 

 

We ask 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, civil engineering or similar 

  • 0-3 years relevant working experience 

  • Knowledge or genuinely interested in hydraulic and electrical systems 

  • Knowledge of PLC control systems (preferably Siemens S7 or TIA) 

  • Flexibility and pro-activity: willingness to work on weekends and evenings 

  • An independent, responsible and accountable attitude as your direct manager is located outside of the US 

  • Excellent communications skills in English
